On 1st June 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, opened the call for applications for support for afforestation, reforestation, establishment of agroforestry systems and enhancement of biodiversity of private forests. The call is part of the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy 2023-2027 and the application can be submitted through the eApplicationPlus application. In addition, in-field trees planting interventions can be continued within the framework of the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy 2023-2027.
Arable land and permanent grasslands (Natura 2000 grassland areas) are eligible for support where agroforestry system is implemented as following:
with at least 3 different species or types of trees or shrubs, among which deciduous species predominate,
in the form of rows (on arable land) or pastures (on permanent grassland),
by planting 150 to 250 trees or shrubs per hectare,
Trees or shrubs in the agroforestry system shall be protected from damage with sheaths or 3 stakes or sheep’s wool or repellents.
