After four years of collaboration to advance groforestry across Europe, the ReForest consortium gathereed for the project’s final meeting, this time in Brussels.
Partners were presenting the positive results achieved within the project, sharing insights from the LivingLabs, and reflecting on how the digitaltools, data, and knowledge developed in ReForest can support the wider adoption of agroforestry practices. Durings its lifetime, ReForest has generated strong scientific evidence and practical insights on the environmental, economic, and social benefits of agroforestry. These results contributed to building more resilient and sustainable agricultural landscapes.
On 26 March, representatives from various sectors across Europe gathered in Brussels for the event ‘The Development of Agroforestry in Europe – Policy Dialogues on Regulation and Financing’, organised by the Reforest project. The event brought together policymakers, researchers, financial institutions and practitioners to exchange views on how to scale up agroforestry from promising pilot initiatives to large-scale, systemic implementation. The conclusion from the discussion is that agroforestry is increasingly recognised as a key nature-based solution, but as was emphasised throughout the event, its uptake requires coherent policies, accessible funding and long-term commitment at European and national levels, as well as ongoing support for all stakeholders.
